Fairfield Township is accepting applications for an

Experienced Part-time Emergency Medical Technician


Provides quality 911 basic emergency medical response in the community and surrounding mutual aid areas. Responsible for basic pre-hospital care of patients in a high impact area with minimal supervision. Ensures compliance with all New Jersey BLS protocols and regulations. Maintains all company and EMT-B level required licenses and certifications. Must maintain a valid New Jersey Driver’s license. Must attend mandatory training. Must follow all company policies and procedures.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment and transport according to established protocols in the pre-hospital setting. Maintains knowledge of company medical director protocols, standing orders, and company policies.

Accurate and complete documentation of all required and necessary information upon completion of every incident. Completes all additional documentation as outlined in company policy and protocols. Accurately and efficiently responds to all quality assurance requests.

Operates an ambulance in a safe, defensive and courteous manner. Demonstrates knowledge of motor vehicle law and adheres to driving policies at all times. Ensures the vehicle is fueled. operable and ready for service at all times. Reports all problems to Supervisor/management in a timely manner.

Performs vehicle and equipment checks at the start of each shift. Ensures that the vehicles are sufficiently stocked and ready for service.

Completes supply inventory and additional duties as requested by department management.

Maintains/utilizes all Fairfield Township owned and department owned equipment, vehicles and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.

Maintains professional appearance at all times. Acts in professional and courteous manner at all times.

Prompt and regular attendance at work and mandatory meetings.

Work cooperatively with employees and all medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.

Education/Licensing/ Certification:

Graduate of a recognized Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Program for the State of New Jersey/National Registry.

Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic level by the Commissioner of Health & Senior Services of the State of New Jersey /National Registry.

Current recognized Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the professional rescuer level.

Must have valid Driver’s license recognized by the State of New Jersey and driving record must meet insurance company standards/requirements.

Must complete yearly Corporate Compliance, HIPAA and Safety training including Right to Know, Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazmat training and any other mandatory training by the date set forth by the department.

Must have one year documented experience in the field as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Additional requirements:

Satisfactory driving history, background check and negative drug/alcohol screening requirements.
